The Sobibor Augmented Reality Exhibit offers an immersive educational experience showcasing a virtual model of the Sobibor Death Camp, crafted by Thomas Blatt, a Holocaust survivor. This original model is currently exhibited at the Holocaust Museum LA. Through cutting-edge augmented reality technology, visitors are transported into a profound chapter of World War II history.
This impactful artifact is highlighted as a 3D model with animations, interactivity, and a virtual guide in the form of actor Ben Feldman as holocap. Users can delve deeper into the camp's history and the remarkable courage exhibited by those who fought for survival by interacting with numbered buttons presented within the model.
For optimal augmented reality experience, we recommend utilizing this app on iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max and newer models, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) and above, or iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) and above. The application is functional on various devices, but performance may vary.
Instructions for educators: deactivate the "Virtual Guide" slider in the top left corner of the main screen. Scan a tabletop surface and tap the information icon in the top right corner. Click on "How To" and scroll past the "Camp Positioning" screen to discover guidelines on connecting your device to a monitor for an enriched classroom encounter exploring the history of Sobibor Camp.
